It is with great sorrow that the family announces the sudden death of Helen Nichol (Stewart) who passed away peacefully at the Kirkland & District Hospital on April 27, 2009 at the age of 73. She was born in Kirkland Lake on June 12, 1935 to Jack & Anabelle (Bridges) Stewart. Helen was predeceased by her husband Bill Nichol, her parents, brothers Doug, Wilfred, Ellis and Arden Stewart and her sister Grace Keizer. She was also predeceased by her in-laws Bert & Edith Nichol. Helen will be greatly missed by her children Bill Nichol (Cathy) and Lorrie Souriol (Mickey); grandchildren Tammy & Bobbie-Ann Souriol, Tyler Davis, Karrigan & Ellis Nichol. Nanny will also be missed by her great grandson Caden Souriol. Also left to mourn are her sister Mary Taylor & brother in law Jim Nichol (Lana) & sister in law Bonnie Borden and many nieces & nephews. Her cat smoky will be lost without her. Helen enjoyed her job for many years with the Ministry of Natural Resources as a cook at the Esker Park Junior Rangers Camp. She also enjoyed spending time at the property in Tarzwell that she and her husband Bill purchased before they were married. In her younger years she was an avid curler and enjoyed watching it on TV in her senior years. Helen touched the hearts of many and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 2 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the “Teck-Hughes” Chapel of the Monette & French Funeral Home.
