August 12, 1935-November 12, 2011 It is with great sorrow that the family of Gordon Robert Field announce his sudden passing on November 12, 2011. Gordon is survived by his longtime companion Vicki Leroux; children Gary Field (Rose-Anne), Dianne Miller (Rick), Lisa Field; grandchildren Tyler Holmes, Shannon Simmens (Matthew), Gabriel Field (Kayleen), Shawna Holmes, Shelby LaCarte and Rylee Field; great-grandchildren Hailey Field, Makayla Field and Baby Simmens; siblings Eva Rodgers (Gerald), Elmer Field (Eva), Doris Beatty, Ruth Black (Milfred), Ester Cottrill (Ken) and Lois Croisier (Ted). Gordon was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Lillian Field, sister Marjorie Potter and brother Clarence Field. In his early days Gordon worked at various construction jobs. He was also a hobby farmer and drove a school bus, retiring as a heavy equipment operator with Evanturel Township. Gordon was a devoted and loving father, grandfather/papa and great-grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his longtime companion Vicki Leroux, with whom he enjoyed sharing many family gatherings, as well as special times together at the Legion, with friends. Gordon was a very special father, grandfather and friend, who shared with each of us the simpler things in life. He was a gentleman who loved to spend time with his family and loved to reminisce about days past. He had a great sense of humour, a sense of adventure, a love for the outdoors and always hunting for the small treasures in life. Those who knew Gordon loved and respected him for the man he was. Although he is gone he is still very much alive and with us as we journey through the rest of our lives. He will always be in our hearts. Gordon’s wish would be for his family to continue the traditions he so dearly loved. We will miss you! Graveside service will take place Friday, November 25, at 1 p.m. at the Englehart Cemetery, with a gathering at the Rebekah Hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Englehart and District Wheelchair Bus Fundraising Committee or a charity of your choice.
