ALLAN, Glen Earl
Glen Earl Allan died suddenly at Englehart & District Hospital on April 13th 2017, in his 78th year. He is survived by his wife, Reta Elaine Allan [née Heimbecker], his children: Kim, Ken [Laurie] and Robert [Carmen], his grandchildren: Taya and Riley, his twin sister, Deanne Dickson, and his brother, Andrew Allan[June]. He is remembered by many nieces and nephews. Glen was predeceased by his sisters, Reta Dahms [Ronald], Iyla Burchill [Robert], and Connie Allan, and his brother-in-law, Ralph Dickson. Glen moved up from Guelph in 1987 and farmed west of Englehart for 30 years. Prior to returning to his first love of farming, he drove truck throughout southern Ontario for more than 20 years. As a young man, he worked on a ranch in Alberta. Glen was born in Normanby Township and was raised in a farming family near Lakelet, Ontario. He was an avid gardener and enthusiastic storyteller. Glen struggled with cardiac complications for the past few years. As per Glen’s wishes, there will be no formal memorial service. Cremation has taken place.
