Mr. George “Herbie” Brown passed away at the Kirkland & District Hospital on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the age of 83 years. Herbie served his country during WWII with the Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry Algonquin Regiment. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Herbie was predeceased by his children Judy Ames and Mark and James Brown; grandsons Darren and Teddy Ames; parents Florence & Ernest Brown and sisters Marjorie Lajoie and Jessie Berdeux. He is survived by his spouse of 63 years Audrey (née Thurlow); children Lloyd (Sharon) Brown, Ernest Brown, Marianne (Rocky) Jacques; Clint (Brenda) Brown and Michael Brown. Herbie is also survived by his grandchildren Benson, Natasha, Justin, Andrea, Laurie, Stacey, Suzanne, Rocky Jr., Trevor, Todd and Tracey; six great grandchildren and brother Douglas Brown. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Monette & French Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on December 2, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a service in the “Teck-Hughes” Chapel at 12:00 p.m. with The Reverend Edna Murdy officiating. Herbie will be laid to rest in the Elk Lake Cemetery. Donations in Herbie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society (206-670 Airport Rd. Timmins, ON.
