1935 - 2019

Francis `Frank` Greening of Otto Twp. died May 6, 2019, at Kirkland & District Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 83. He was born in Evanturel Twp. on June 23, 1935, son of Douglas and Florence Greening. On April 23, 1960, he married Teresa `Terry` Greening (née Leroux) in Swastika. Frank was a heavy equipment operator for more than 40 years. He was well-known for his grader and dozer skills throughout the years. Prior to his operating career, Frank worked in the bush with his father as a family business. His interests include building the homestead for his family of 60 years. He also enjoyed spending time in the bush - trapping, hunting, fishing, cutting and maintaining trails for four-wheeling and snowmobiling, and cutting his firewood each year, with `snort` or two along the way. Pre-deceased by son Doug; grandson Kyle; sister Betty; brother Roy; and his parents Douglas and Florence. He is survived by Teresa `Terry`, his wife of 59 years; children Rusty Greening of Kirkland Lake, Marilyn Greening of Kirkland Lake, Steve Greening (Kathy) of Kirkland Lake, John Greening (Barb) of Kirkland Lake, Carol Trepanier (Dave) of Timmins, honourary daughter Bobbi-Jo Murdoch of Kirkland Lake, Dale Greening (Connie) of Kirkland Lake; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchilden; sister Phyllis Reid of Englehart; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son Doug; grandson Kyle; sister Betty; brother Roy; and his parents Douglas and Florence. Viewing will be at the McDonald Funeral Home, Englehart on Friday May 10, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday May 11, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A `Celebration of Life` will be held at the Round Lake Fire Hall following the 2-4pm viewing on Saturday. Burial will be at Round Lake Cemetery at a later date. In memory contributions may be made to the Kirkland Lake Food Bank, Salvation Army, Box 424, Kirkland Lake, ON P2N 3J1. Special thanks to Frank`s nephew and wife, Terry and Tilly Reid, and to niece and husband Glenda and Martin Stuehler. Special thanks to VON nurses, Closing the Gap PSWs, CCAC staff and any other associations who helped our family through this difficult time. Speacial thanks also go out to all the nursing staff, palliative care workers and volunteers during this difficult time. Thank you all for being amazing.
