It is with profound sadness that we announce Leo’s sudden passing on June 29, 2014 at Kirkland & District Hospital. He was born on October 20, 1930 to the late Antonetta and Francesco Santia. Leo was a resident of Extendicare for several years. He enjoyed listening to Jazz and Blues music, going out on family outings and vacations. Leo was known for his handyman work and one who could tackle anything. One of his job requirements for the Royal Canadian Air Force was to maintain the structural integrity of the air crafts, and later in life he moved back home to work in various mines in the area, in particular the Adam’s Mine until his retirement. Leo is forever loved and dearly remembered by his wife of 55 years Nancy (née Clark) Santia; his children Christopher (Cathy) and Gary; his grandchildren Gary and Daren Santia; his brother-in-law Dave Q. Williams; his sister-in-law Joan (John) Latino; his nieces and nephews Cathy Williams, Mike Williams, Debbie Fox, Bruce (Bonnie) Legros; his cousins Kaye Howitt and Wayne Shaheen. Predeceased by his sister Bernadina Williams. The family will welcome friends at the FRENCH FAMILY FUNERAL HOME (111 Burnside Drive, Kirkland Lake, ON P2N3 L1) on Thursday, July 3, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 4, 2014 from the Chapel of the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Donations in Leo’s memory may be made to the Parkinson Foundation (321 – 4211 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON M2P 2A9) or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (2300 Yonge Street, Suite 1300, Toronto, ON M4P1E4).Offer Condolence for the family of Essio Leonello Santia
