I have such fond memories of Ruby & Ernie living in Stroud. Just down the path from Nanny & Gramps…Nash’s Esso right across the road. Go down to Ruby & Ernies to visit my cousins to find son Ernie so tall and scarry to me as a youngster as he was so wise to me! Becky… well she was likely found upside down way high in the tree where I wish I could climb like her. Stephen he was a firecracker always grinning from ear to ear. I was young so Jennifer& Richard were not here yet! The Nash’s house was always booming with excitment. Loved going there and feeling like we all belonged. Going to the lake for a swim in the summer. Snow mobiling in the winter throught the woods. I can’t help but have a smile on my face when I think of all the warmth Ruby & Ernie created in that era. Thank you!

I am so grateful to have reconnected with my uncle in the past few years. I love him very much. Hadn’t seen him for a very long time except from time to time when He and my Aunt Ruby came to London to visit. After reuniting with them at their 50th Wedding Anniversry, I decided to take the initiative to reunite with them on my own and contacted my cousin Becky. Was fortunate enough to visit with them a couple of years ago in Larder Lake with Becky. It was so delightful to catch them again at Becky’s birthday party last summer and I will be forever grateful to have seen Uncle Ernie and Aunt Ruby and my cousins again…to tell them how much I love them and hug and kiss them. I have always been taken with this part of my family and have many fond memories since my childhood…Stroud days, Bonsecour Beach…running through the bracken…seeing photos of their activities in the parades and even in the most recent years hearing his stories of events as a Mason, stories about family before I was born. He connected me to a dear friend Connie out west when I went to Calgary…who was very grateful to hear of him. I love you my uncle and you will always be in my heart. Peace be the journey. I am surely going to miss you for the rest of my days. I love you too Auntie Ruby and all my cousins and family.

It was a couple of years ago and I was so happy to have my Mom’s brothers and sister have a mini reunion with my Dad and my siblings. It had been quite awhile since I had the pleasure of seeing my Uncle Ernie, Aunt Ruby, Uncle Bill, Sue, Aunt Doreen, Uncle Nelson, Jennifer and Becky and I have treasured the memory ever since. He was a fantastic guy with a twinkle in his eye. Love you Uncle Ernie, Bev

To Ruby and family, Memories are like threads of gold, they will forever be with you all. I remember going to the Station on the 25th with my Dad as a young girl and meeting Mr. Nash, as a child we always called our elders by Mr. back then. When my Husband Ron and I moved here from Toronto back in 1966 on the 9th Concession, we used to purchase our Stove Oil from Ernie and Ruby. Such a friendly and caring couple that always gave a helpful hand to folks. We were a small community back then with only a handful of folks living in the area year round. Ernie always had such a wonderful smile on his face, he was definitely a person who enjoyed life and who will be waiting in Heaven with that same smile and say “Welcome Home”.

My first cross canada road trip was with granny and grandad, been many since but none the same, my love for nature was heavy inspired by grandad from loosing a ski off a skidoo to xmas at the cottage, there was always a natural feel to the man, with a seemingly unlimited mechanical knowledege, a simple phone call was all it took to get good solid advice with no bs! I rarely saw him angry and when it was at me, I know it was deserved, but he always smiled moved on never grudged you. I for one wil miss his presense. To come to rest after so many years and so many miles, to be at home with his family in the house he raised, is one lucky man, but well deseving. So with a toast from the west may you all find peace in this time.

Steve and Family, Please know that your loss is shared by many and your sadness is felt by all who love you. During this time we are confident your family has come together to honor your father and to comfort your mother. That is all he would have wanted. So that is exactly what you as a family will doâ¦and he would be proud of each and every one of you. You are in our thoughts. Much Loveâ¦Steve and Patty
