The family sadly announces the death of Ellis James Millar of Larder Lake. Ellis passed away on March 25, 2016 at Extendicare Kirkland Lake at the age of 88 years. Ellis was born in Snow Road, ON. on September 16, 1927 to the late James Millar and Mary (Crawford) Millar. He came to Larder Lake in 1947 and worked at the Kerr Addison Gold Mine in Virginiatown for 45 years. Ellis was a longtime member of the Larder Lake Ski Club and the Senior Canadian Club in Larder Lake. He also enjoyed traveling and has seen much of the world. Ellis is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Barbara (Cottrell) Millar; sons David & wife Peggy and Donald. He is also survived by his grandchildren Adam & partner Jen, Mathew & wife Dawoon, Ivory & husband Kevin Johnstone, Colin & wife Lisa and Jonathan & fiancée Nicole. Ellis has 4 great grandchildren Kaylee, Sean, Lily and Owen. Cremation has taken place at the French Family Funeral Home & Crematorium. Family will receive relatives and friends at the Larder Lake Senior Canadian Club on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Donations in Ellis’ memory may be made to Temiskaming Hospital CAT Scan Foundation )421 Shepherdson Rd. Sorry to learn of Ellis’ passing. He always seemed like a very gentle and calm man. I know that our Dad always enjoyed visits from Barb and Ellis.
