….. when she found out I was pregnant (oh way back in 2010).. And we went through some rough patches, oh we went through a lot of rough patches and even through those, I know she loved me unconditionally. When my son was born, she was there that day, arranging the beautiful roses she brought for me (which I am thankful I still have!!!) She loved my son so much – Kalen gave her so much joy and we were with her through every trip to Sudbury and even along with her on her last day. Betty Wilke was and is in our hearts and STILL is a truly remarkable woman and person. Words cannot describe… I love you, Mom. And think of you every single day. And want you back. xoxo

I was so sad to hear of Mrs. Wilke’s passing. I have been a friend of Mrs. Wilke’s daughter, Natascha, since we first met in Grade 9. My fondest memories of Mrs. Wilke had to have been when we were planning Tascha’s surprise baby shower. I called Mrs. Wilke right away to let her know what we girls were up to. It was apparent right from the moment of that phone call that she was thrilled about the shower and the impending arrival of little Kalen. Mrs. Wilke was so helpful with planning our guest list and fun activities for the shower. Weeks before the shower, I believe Mrs. Wilke and I spoke on an almost daily basis (unbeknownst to Tascha). I have never in my life seen Mrs. Wilke so lit up! And ever since little Kalen arrived, it is obvious that he has been the centre of the whole family and is well loved. I only wish there could have been more time for them. My thoughts and prayers will remain with Mr. Wilke, Martha, Natascha, Kalen and Jack for a long time to come.

For as long as I have known the Wilke’s youngest daugther, Natascha, each of my visits always found Mrs. Wilke keeping herself busy in the kitchen. Without fail, she was quick to offer me a beverage and to ask how I and my family were doing. My last memory of Mrs. Wilke was this past Victoria long weekend and as you can guess, she was in the kitchen. Even though she looked tired, she did not disappoint. I count my lucky stars that I had a chance to know her, to help her in the kitchen when needed, and to see her smiling at the gift of flowers. Lastly, I am grateful that Mrs. Wilke was able to be grandmother to Kalen, the latest edition to the Wilke family. Tim and I send our deepest sympathies to Mrs. Wilke’s family and friends. May you hold the memory of her close to your heart.

I sure did miss you at Christmas this year, Mom. Things just weren’t the same without you. I know you would have loved seeing Kalen especially. It’s hard to believe that 6 months have already gone by… It seems like just yesterday. I miss you so much. xoxo

It’s with a heavy heart and great shock that I write this tribute, however I know that Betty would not want us to be sad. Betty always had a smile, and was a genuinely a great person. Betty was always willing to chat and laugh along with anyone. You will be missed Betty, you are in our thoughts and prayers always and forever. Louise
