STEWART (née Welch), Elizabeth Marjory – the family regrets to announce, Elizabeth passed away at the age of 96, on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the Extendicare Nursing Home in Kirkland Lake. She was predeceased by: her beloved husband, Hubert and two of her sons Charles and Barry. Elizabeth’s life was influenced by the historical events of the times: she lived in Kerns Township during the Great Haileybury Fire of 1922, experienced WWI as a child, the Great Depression as a teenager, she lost a brother serving his country during WWII another brother earned the Distinguish Flying Cross. Elizabeth was very proud of all her family members. She moved with her family to where there were job opportunities, after living in Toronto for more than 30 years, she returned to northern Ontario settling in Kirkland Lake for the last 30 years of her life. Elizabeth was a very independent lady and continued to live in her own home until the age of 94. Her pleasant manner and sense of humour was always appreciated by those who knew her. Elizabeth will be fondly remembered by: her daughter, Sandra Taylor; sons, Brian (Charlotte), Roger (Irene), Robert (Donna) and Donald; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. The family will welcome friends at the FRENCH FAMILY FUNERAL HOME (111 Burnside Drive, Kirkland Lake, ON., P2N 3L1) on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of the French Family Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. following the visitation. A committal service will follow at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery.
