My condolences to the family. My father (the late Dalton Bawks) used to talk about the early days of Kirkland Lake and had a great association with “Eddie” at the Camera Store. He had a photography business and worked part time at the store.

December 8, 2008 Dear Duke Family: Upon the recent return from our travels we heard the very sad news that Eddie, your father or grandfather has passed away. I remember Eddie well, he always had a nice smile for everyone and was very good to the Sandrin family. There are no words that come even close to expressing our great sympathy to you and your family for your recent loss. We can definitely say how very saddened we were to hear the news of Eddieâs passing. We wish to extend our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to all of you and your families during these sad times. Yours sincerely, Lucio and Marilyn Sandrin and family

To my dear friend Eddie Duke, Thanks you for your mentoring, your kindness, and your inspiration in mine, and many careers to come out of our town. You taught me what real music was all about. You will be long remembered for a ‘sarcastic wit’ that was unique and charming, and a smile that brought warmth to the coldest of hearts. Thank you Eddie for believing in me. My sympathy goes out to your family. At this time may your life be remembered by the person you were, and inspired others to be. You will be missed many, and always loved by all. Brett McNaueal

computer problems, hope this sends. So we try again to send our love and prayers to Eddy and his family. You think you know someone and then you find our their name is Asrael. How beautiful. It would make sense that he was named after an angel. We called him Dukemeister and he would laugh when referred to him being a legend in our eyes. We will miss him very much. I have very fond memories of Eddie and especially the photographs that he took of our family in the 1940s and 1950s. They are still on display here at my place in Toronto. Condolences to his whole family.

It is so sad to see a local legend like Eddie pass away. His memories will be cherished by all of us for years to come, for sure. We all have our own stories of the influence Eddie’s constant offer of warm friendship has had throughout his life, and, of course, his wicked clarinet skills. He has, after all, jammed with the best.

Dear Sylvia & family: Please accept our sincere sympathy in the passing of our dear friend and your dear brother, Eddie. We have such wonderful memories of Ed, in Rotary, playing music, having a beer, jamming at the hotel, travelling to Ottawa with Bonnie, celebrating a birthday and enjoying a joke or two. He may have stop playing years ago but his music lives on in my heart!!! Please know that we are praying for all of you at this time.

We feel honoured to have known Eddie. He was a ‘neighbour’ to my husband, his last year of college (’96/97). We are the proud owners of one of his photographs of Northern College. We won’t be able to attend the service on Monday – but know that Eddie will and has always been in our thoughts.

I’m really sorry to hear of Eddie’s passing. When we lived in Englehart I played drums with Eddie and Gary Struthers. Our daughter Jocelyn sung with us on a number of occasions as a teenager. She is now a music teacher and a R&B singer in the Toronto area. Eddie was always lots of fun and liked to “chat up ” the ladies in the audience. My Mother, now 85,knew him when they lived in Moncton NB during the war. Tis indeed a small world. Thanks for the fun,Eddie! Ron

Altho we lost contact for quite a few years I was able to reconnect with him just a few months ago. My condolences to all of his family, I grieve along with you. Starr
