LILLIAN LONGSTREET-POTTS (NEE PARCELS), Wilma

2021

November 26, 1938 to February 20, 2021With sad hearts we mourn the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife. Her children Cindy (Gerry) Poole, John (Julie) Longstreet, Cathy (Bill) Ellis, grandchildren Ashley, Lindsey, Shaun, Adam, Zach and Chelsie, great-grandchildren Khloe and Kali, husband Frank, sister Louise (John) Dambrowitz and brother Bob Winters will forever miss her. She was predeceased by her father and mother Bill and Pearl Parcels, brother Larry, and first husband Melvin Longstreet. She was born in Matheson, Ontario, raised in Shillington, Ontario and then moved back to Matheson where she married and raised her family. She attended college and went on to work at the Matheson CIBC, the Black River Matheson Township Office and as manager of Longstreet Drilling. She enjoyed being a Brownie Leader and 4H Leader, passing on her knowledge to youngsters. She was a talented seamstress and an amazing cook. She enjoyed gardening especially when she retired to her paradise at Sesekinika Lake. She was a strong, independent and intelligent person who taught us all life lessons and supported us through life’s many adventures.  We were proud of her accomplishments and loved her deeply. Her wishes were always that we not grieve her passing but celebrate a life well-lived.  A celebration of her life will be held in the summer when we can gather again to share happy stories and memories. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kirkland and District Hospital.Offer Condolence for the family of Wilma Lillian Longstreet-Potts (nee Parcels)

Frank and family, so sorry for your loss. Always enjoyed our conversations and will remember Wilmas kind spirit, sense of humour and her positive view of life no matter the situation. She loved animals and would enjoy the almost daily visits of my dog, Kono to her deck on Sesekinika. Will always cherish our many chats on the side of the road while out walking my dogs. She will be missed.

I have many fond memories of Wilma from my childhood and through to adulthood. She was my aunt. She had a great sense of humour and a sharp wit. After moving to Southern Ontario, I didnt see Wilma for many years but had the great pleasure of seeing her at a wedding at the Dambrowitz farm in Matheson 6 or 7 years ago. She was using a walker but that didnt slow her down one bit! We had a great conversation and Im so glad I had the chance to see her! Cindy, John, Cathy and families, Frank – you will have lots of wonderful memories that will keep her alive in your hearts. Stay strong, thats what she would want.

Frank, My sincere and deepest sympathy in your loss of Wilma. My cousin is a relative of the Winter and Dambrowitz family and I represented her up in Matheson at the Family Reunion a few summers ago. You and Wilma didn’t hesitate to ensure I enjoyed the day. Wilma was very lucky her family remained so close over the years. I really enjoyed her sense of humor and respected her independence. ellen

Wilma was our dear neighbour at Sesekinika. Our children grew up always enjoying their visits with Wilma. She always encouraged them in their pursuits and always had gems to add to their craft stashes. and gems of wisdom for them. She loved when our boys would drop Pike off for her to pickle/can. I loved the always stimulating conversations wed have on the deck. Her wit was delightful and her opinions strong. Our whole family will miss her. God speed Wilma.
