After a lengthy battle with cancer, Wayne Hatherly of New Liskeard died December 10, 2008, at the Temiskaming Hospital. He was born in Toronto on September 20, 1943 to Richard and Velma Hatherly. Educated in Toronto, he married Jo-Ann Carter in Barrie on October 9, 1965 and moved North from Waubaushene, Ontario, in 1988. Mr. Hatherly was an entrepreneur and owner of Duffy's General Store and Gas Bar in Waubaushene, the Edgewater Motel in Haileybury and the Pantry in New Liskeard. Mr. Hatherly was a Cub leader in Orillia, was a member of the Lions Club and the Northeast Ontario Bass Association (NEOBA) in New Liskeard and assisted with hockey in Orillia. He was also a member of the United Church. Mr. Hatherly is survived by his wife Jo-Ann, daughter Sheri Reichelt of New Liskeard, Scott of North Bay, granddaughter Kali Reichelt of New Liskeard and by his mother Velma. He was predeceased by his father Richard and sister Shirley Gilbert. The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard with the service conducted by his nephew, Reverend Paul Carter, of Orillia. Pallbearers were nephews Mitchell Mendel, Chad Clarke, Derek Trahan and Troy Parks. Relatives and friends attending the service from out of town came from Orillia, Mississauga, Barrie, Oro, Wasaga Beach, Stouffville, Mount Forest, Morrisburg, Brampton, North Bay and Temagami.
