Walter Hobbs went home peacefully at Temiskaming District Hospital September 5, 2010 with his loving family at his side. He was 92. He was born in Dymond Township to William and Vida Hobbs, and educated at Uno Park school in Dymond Township. Mr. Hobbs married Laura Doupe in Harley Township, June, 1944. He bought his parents' farm and farmed for 26 years. He then quit farming for health reasons and moved to New Liskeard. Mr. Hobbs worked at the New Liskeard Public School as head custodian for 15 years. He enjoyed walking the boardwalk and visiting. He was proud of his garden and home, and loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Hobbs was always ready to pass on favourite scriptures to his family members, and loved to hold the little ones on his knee. Mr. Hobbs is survived by his loving wife Laura, and his children: Gordon (Mary), Robert (Peggy), Dianne (Harry) Wadsworth, Donna (Claude) Robinson, and John (Kelly). He also is survived by 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, and his sister Elizabeth. Mr. Hobbs was predeceased by his grandson Donald Hobbs, and his sisters Alma, Eileen and Ruby. Pallbearers were the grandchildren of Mr. Hobbs: Peter, Colin, David Wadsworth, Kendra Mihell, Rhonda McCallum and Bill Hobbs. Honorary pallbearers were: Kerry Macdonald, Kimberly Ciero, Kirsta Jin, Lynne Martin, and Alyssa and Stuart Hobbs. Relatives and friends from out of town came from Newmarket, Toronto, Elmvale, Richmond Hill, North Bay, Bancroft, Maynooth, Peterborough, Sudbury, Whitefish, Sault Ste. Marie, Cosbyville, Englehart, Elmira, Kitchener, Franklin, Tennessee, and Tomstown. Burial was in the Harley Township cemetery.
