Family
So sorry to hear of Vera’s passing. I did her hair for years in Englehart. Loved hearing all her stories and how Hugh would always come right in to get her. Such a kind lady. Condolences to all.
May my support
warm your heart
It is with great sadness, the family announces the passing of long time Englehart resident, Vera Miller on January 26, 2024 at the age of 92 after an eight year-long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Hugh Miller.
Vera is survived by her three children, Kevin (Mary), Lori (Gary) and Grant (Cindy) and her grandchildren, Jason, Danny, Kim, Jeff, Craig, Bryana and Nick. She is also survived by her 11 great grandchildren, Hydra, Logan, Lincoln, Ainsley, Kelsea, Sterling, Maya, Wyatt, Kaylie, Charlie, and James.
Vera was born and raised in North Bay with her four brothers, Russell, Gerald, Darwin, and Vernon. She attended St. Rita’s Catholic Girl School and later went on to work in the office at St. Josephs Hospital. She married Hugh and together they moved from North Bay to Rouyn Noranda and then on to Englehart where she worked in the office of Pollocks Lumber.
Vera and Hugh were inseparable, and both enjoyed many hours gardening, walking through local parks, and loved camping in the many provincial parks across Ontario. Volunteering at the Anglican church, Englehart Hospital auxiliary and delivering Meals on Wheels kept them busy as well.
In keeping with Vera’s request there will be a private service at a later date for her immediate family.
We especially would like to thank Dr. Davies, the nurses and the staff at Extendicare in Haileybury.
Donations to the Ontario Alzheimer Society would be appreciated (https://alzheimer.ca/on/en, 20 Eglinton Avenue West, 16th Floor, Toronto, M4R 1K8)
