Valeda Gervais died March 25, 2010, at the Temiskaming Lodge at the age of 83. She was born in Belle Vallée June 19, 1926, to Ovila and Louisa (Pelletier) Blain and educated in Belle Vallée. She married Leo Gervais at St-Charles, Uno Park, July 15, 1947. Mrs. Gervais was a homemaker, a short-order cook and a wonderful seamstress. Mrs. Gervais was predeceased by her husband Leo on September 20, 1982, and both her parents, as well as her brother Theode (Irene) Blain, sisters Therese (Paul) Beland and Yvonne (Edward) Laframboise and her granddaughter Dena Gervais Little. She is survived by her children Marcel (Heather), Ivan (Deborah), Suzanne, Nicole (Kelly) Murphy, and Francine (Ron) Bumstead as well as ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Valmire Blain, Herman (Rita) Blain, Beatrice (Archie) Willard, Edouard (Lea) Blain, Aurele Blain and Rachel (Paul) Renaud. The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard with the service held March 28, officiated by Kitty Miller. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care and kindness shown by the staff at the Temiskaming Lodge. Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society of Canada will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
