With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Simone Lemieux (nee Loranger) on November 1, 2023, at the age of 94, with her loving family by her side. Beloved wife, for 48 years, of the late Andre Lemieux (2003). Dear mother to Francine (Phil Carney, deceased), Sylvie, deceased (John Wipprecht), Doris (Charles Jackson), Robert, Monique (Mario Cormier), Colette (Ken Harrison), Pierre (Lysanne Rivard) and Anne (Mathieu Janveau). Proud and cherished grandmother to Kyle, Christopher, Laura, Melanie, Nathalie, Christie, Daniel, Karli, Isabelle, Alex, Martine, Katerina, Andrew, Samuel, Véronyque, Nicholas, Alexandre and Patrick, and her 12 great-grandchildren. She was a dear sister to 11 siblings, a fond sister-in-law to many, a wonderful aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is survived by sisters Therese, Juliette, Cecile, Fernande and Noella, sisters-in-law Odette, Viviane and Roberte, brothers-in-law David and Jean-Noël.
Simone was the Matriarch of the family and the heart of the family home. She was a multi-talented homemaker who loved to cook, bake, sew and do crafts. She was famous for her flaky piecrust, her many desserts and bread of which she would bake 17 loaves on a weekly basis. She loved sharing her food and her ‘sucre a la crème’ (fudge), donuts and butter tarts were always in high demand by not only her children, their spouses, and grandchildren but also by many nieces and nephews. Her many crafts included sewing, needlework, embroidery, quilting and knitting. All her children, grandchildren and many others were gifted her hand made quilts and embroidered pillowcases.
Raised on a farm, she met and fell in love with a young man who would become her partner in life and on a farm of their own, she continued doing farm chores well into her 70s. She loved to keep busy, and many could not keep up with her, including her children. Her love of travel took her to Australia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Georgia, New York and Vancouver, to a name a few. She always shared many memories from her travels which made you feel there right along her side on the trip.
Above all, Simone was a loving and dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who lived life to the fullest. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
