Salomea Hoszowski,

SALOMEA HOSZOWSKI,

2021

HOSZOWSKI, Salomea – In God’s grace, Sally (Salomea) Hoszowski passed away peacefully on July 31, 2017, at Kirkland Hospital.  She was the loving wife for 58 years to Walter, who predeceased her in 2005 and wonderful “MA” to daughter Christina, son-in-law Ross MacKenzie, and son Jerry. She also was the proud Grandma to James and David Hoszowski. Sally was the last surviving member of eight siblings in Poland.Sally was born March 27, 1922 in Poland. When she was 18, German soldiers took her from her home and she was sent to do forced labour in Germany. In 1949, she immigrated to Kirkland Lake to join Walter, who had been assigned to work at Lakeshore Mines. Her greatest joy was her family. Sally became an excellent cook, catering many wedding and banquets at the Polish Hall. Hundreds of her pierogie and cabbage rolls were sold there too. She was an accomplished seamstress, as well as being a knitter and creating wonderful pieces of needlework with her crochet hook. Sally loved picking blueberries and made wonderful pies. Many thanks to the nursing staff at Kirkland & District Hospital, for their compassion and understanding. Thanks to the staff of Teck-Pioneer Residence for all their care giving and assistance. Special thanks to the Activity Department staff for filling her final years with fun, music, laughter, and enrichment. Thank you to the residents of TPR for their friendship, support, and kindness. Private graveside service has taken place.DONATIONS

When a good person leaves us, we know and believe that Christ has called them home to Heaven. Although her life was hard at times, Sally lived it to the fullest serving family and friends, and even those she did not know. In serving all those she did, she humbled herself as Christ did through His Crucifixion and death on the cross. And as Christ rose from the dead and opened the gates of Heaven for us, she too will rise again and will wait with God until we are called home. Please accept my prayers and my condolences Christina, Jerry, families and friends. May her fond memories of Love comfort you at this time. Eternal Rest grant unto Sally, Oh Lord, and may Your Perpetual Light shine upon her. God bless.
