Paige, Ronald

PAIGE, Ronald

1961 - 2013

Big Ronnie was always a cheerful fellow. Less than rare were there dull moments when in his company. He was one of those guys you wanted to be with. If it was fishing, you wanted to be in his boat. If it was hunting you wanted to hunt with him. He was comfortable to be around. He made you feel safe. If something needed fixing ask Ron. He'd fix it and if he couldn't he'd MacIver it until it could be fixed. The fact is Ron had an air about him that made him seem invincible, constant like a shining star. He was a rock and built like one, strong as they come. You could say he was a man's man but that would be too one dimensional for he could be soft and very caring, loving and kind. He had an easy way about him. Ron hauled logs for years as Ron Paige Trucking and for years before that for his dad Ralph. He'd laugh at this; no one ever called him a truck driver. Seventy to eighty hour weeks and longer meant Sundays were for fishing. October, the only vacation he ever took, was for moose. He got cancer ten years ago. He took it on and fought the good fight and he won many battles. It was sad to see his strength being sapped and oh there were moments he wavered, but it never got his spirit, that shining, invincible star inside him. Thankfully the pain he suffered is now gone. In the end we lost a good man. He will always be with us in memory: those many fishing trips; the glory days of the LA Pint Hoisters at the Hunt Memorial Ball Tournament; long weekends with family and relatives at Red Squirrel; Thanksgiving in the bush; those so great October hunts; building his camp. Ron's wife Nicole (Hebert) would like to thank the many friends and relatives who helped tremendously over the past few months as do his children Stephanie (Marc Lafond) and Christopher (Angela Heavens). Ron was the brother to Georgia (Breck Manderstrom), North Bay; Gloria (Jim Sanderson), Temagami; Coreen (Eric Bedard), New Liskeard; and Glenda (Mike Bogart), Winnipeg. Predeceased by his sister Geraldine and sadly missed by his mother Dorothy and father Ralph, Ron's spirit lives on in his grandchildren Preston,Hailey, Jerzee, Kaleb, Rya, and little Ronnie. He will be especially missed by buddy and sidekick Randy Paige. Ron is gone and we are all better off for having known him. That is a simple truth but oh how he will be missed. The family of the late Ron Paige will receive friends at the Perrin Funeral Chapel on Friday from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9pm. A memorial service to celebrate Ron's life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11am from the Latchford Community Center. If desired, donations to the Latchford Legion will be greatfully acknowledged by the family.
