DURRANT, Robert

1939 - 2010

Bob Durrant After a short, aggressive bout with cancer, Bob Durrant died peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Durrant is survived by his wife Sheila, children Chuck (Penny), Russ (Carrie), Keri (Jeff) and grandchildren Aidan, Darby, Brynn, and Jefferson Durrant. Mr. Durrant was born in Verdun and attended schools in Three Rivers and Quebec City. He started teaching in Magog, then moved to New Liskeard where he taught math to generations of students at New Liskeard Secondary School/Timiskaming District Secondary School between 1967 and 2000. Mr. Durrant loved his pets, his gardens, his boat. He enjoyed gardening, making wine and cooking, and sharing his efforts with family and friends. He was a Meals on Wheels Volunteer for many years, who enjoyed talking to his clients. His enjoyment of photography has left his family a legacy of memories of special times and happy moments and a shared passion for the art. His family will remember him for the meandering boat rides, the drinks under the pine tree, the tasty meals, and the great wine. His children remember him waiting for the bus to return from out-of-town events, the late bus, the taxi service so they never missed hockey, track, skiing, skating or dancing. They remember the days on the golf course, nights around the fire, mornings of pancakes and bacon. His grandchildren will remember the stories on his knee, the trips across the country, and the photo book memories. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at Coleman Township Hall, on Saturday, November 6, beginning at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions to Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation or the Cobalt Coleman Latchford and Area Food Bank will be gratefully appreciated by his family.
