Passed away at home Nov. 7/07, with Jennien by his side. Roy was a very good hearted person; he helped everyone he could who knew him. He worked in mines and opened a Friendship Center in K.L. He also worked for the Friendship Center in Cochrane. He was a board member of the Native Housing and he worked for the Mental Health Center in Cochrane until he retired. He was chief for 15 years, for Beaverhouse First Nation. He helped his people get new houses, build a church and a community center. He got his people working and the band office up and running with all his hard work. He was also a member of Kunawanmano. Roy was predeceased by his first wife Louise; parents; sister Jessie; son Robert and daughter Mary. He leaves behind his common law spouse Jennien; sons Peter, Chris (Lorna) and Robert (Shelly) and daughters Bonnie Laframebus, Jennifer Lightfoot, Diane (Brant) David, Debbie (Ray) King, and Laura (Steve) Laundrault. Roy is also survived by his sister Emma (Glen); aunt Clara; mother in law Laura Ouellette; step children Renea (Dan), Arlene (Claude) and Colleen (Mike); good friends Marvin Laycox and Susan & Charlie Brook; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; family and friends who will miss him very much. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gospel Chapel (294 Second St. Matheson) from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2007. A funeral service will be held from the Gospel Hall on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Roy will be laid to rest in the Greenhill Cemetery.Offer Condolence for the family of Raymond Meaniss
