His family sadly announces the passing of Peter Jack (Pekka Jaakko) Paavola, born in Finland September 9, 1951. He was predeceased by his father Tauno Henrik (1993) and his mother Kaarina Anna-Liisa (2007), and is sadly missed by his siblings Matti, Maya, John and Raimo, beloved niece Megan Leslie, beloved niece and nephew Jaana and Jonas Pearson-Paavola, as well as his good friends Ann Sundstrom and Jack Jarv. Pete was the one everyone stayed in touch with, the glue who kept family and friends connected. He worked underground at Macassa Mine for many years and had fond memories of the men he worked with. He coped bravely with the diabetes he developed in 1997 and enjoyed chatting with friends as he made his way to shop for groceries. At Pete’s request, cremation will take place. Join us at the MONETTE & FRENCH FUNERAL HOME (450 Government Road West, Kirkland Lake, ON., P2N 3L1) on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. after which we will repair to the Bellevue Tavern to raise a glass to his memory.Offer Condolence for the family of Peter Paavola
