Olga Prokopich,

OLGA PROKOPICH,

2021

Surrounded by loved ones, Olga Prokopich, age 80, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener, ON on Thursday, January 24, 2013. Olga was born February 17, 1932 to Antonina & Stefan Behersky in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, where she lived until relocating to Waterloo in 2012. Olga graduated from KLCVI in 1950. She met her husband, Bill, while at Ryerson University. After graduating in 1952, she returned to Northern Ontario where she worked at Spruce Falls Pulp and Paper in Kapuskasing and spent time with her friends and family Anastasia & Jacob Kott, and cousins Ann (Jack) and Alec (Doris). Olga & Bill married in 1961 and made their home in Kirkland Lake. Olga was a teacher and homemaker who was dedicated to her friends and family and will be remembered for her caring spirit, sense of humour and profound generosity. She dedicated much of her time to the care of others – from her mother, “Big George” and other family friends, to her adoring grandchildren. She hosted many holiday celebrations where friends and extended family were always welcome. Olga expressed tremendous creativity and talent, and used her talents to make others feel as though they were the most cherished people in the whole world. She loved cooking, sewing and gardening, and spent many happy years with her family at their cottage on Labrinyth Lake. Olga is survived and greatly missed by her husband of 51 years, Bill; two daughters, Kathy (Grant) and Lisa (Randy); her son, Tony; and three grandchildren, Emily, Henry and Griffin. She is predeceased by her parents and brother, Roman Behersky. Olga received wonderful extended care at both Kirkland & District Hospital as well as Freeport Hospital (Kitchener). Sincere gratitude is extended to all those who lovingly cared for her. Donations to the Kirkland and District Hospital Auxiliary (145 Government Road East, Kirkland Lake. ON, P2N 3P4) are greatly appreciated by the family. The family will welcome friends at the French Family Funeral Home (111 Burnside Avenue, Kirkland Lake, ON) on Saturday, August 24th, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. from the Chapel of the Funeral Home with a committal Service at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery. A reception will be held at the French Family Reception Centre.Offer Condolence for the family of Olga Prokopich

Kathy and family. I am so sorry for your loss. Keep your Moms memories close to heart. My most favorite memory was when we used to go Christmas carolling and your Mom and dad would be so happy to see us. Your Mom would always cry. We all not only had a good group of friends in high school but the parents were a big part of everything we did. Hugs. Jude!

Dear Mr. P, Kathy, Lisa, Tony and your families, I just heard about the loss of your wife and Mom — with a heavy heart I send you each my deepest regret. She certainly was a big presence in my teenage years – always kind, supportive and laughed with us lots. There are people in one’s life that are never forgotten no matter how much time and distance goes by — your wife and Mom is one of those women for me. With love and grace, she will always be remembered. Take care to all. Love Brenda
