ELLIOTT, Norma

1923 - 2020

Norma Joanna Elliott (nee Murrell) passed away peacefully at Temiskaming Lodge on Sunday, April 26, 2020, at the age of 96 years, 5 months. She was the beloved wife of the late Kent Elliott and was pre-deceased by her siblings, Art (Margaret) Murrell, Blanche (John) Allen, and Robert Murrell. She is survived by her sons Clare (Sharon) and Don (Marie-Jeanne) and was the proud grandmother of Bradley (Rachel) Elliott, Carina Elliott, Anne (Max) Kohut, Lynne Breault, Ashley (Marc-Andre) Morency, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Murray (Claudette) Elliott and Ross (Eilene) Elliott. Norma will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbours. Norma was a veteran of World War II serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force. She met Kent through her friend June, Kent’s sister. They were married in September of 1949 and moved to Kent’s home town of Tomstown in the early winter of 1950. Norma was a faithful member of the Tomstown Presbyterian Church and the Women of the Church. She taught 4-H to many young people and was a very accomplished quilter and seamstress. She was family focused and enjoyed many hours in her vast garden. She won many ribbons at the Englehart Fall Fair over the years for her baking, sewing, and gardening skills. She was a member of the Englehart Horticultural Society and supported many charities. She was an avid collector of dolls, stamps, coins, and Avon bottles. Norma enjoyed life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by her family and community. A private family funeral will be held on Friday, May 1, 2020 with interment at the Ingram Cemetery in the spring. We would like to thank the staff at both the Temiskaming Lodge and the Englehart Hospital for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations are invited, as per her wishes, to make them to Tomstown Presbyterian Church or the Englehart Hospital. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left below..
