Dear Germaine & Family, Words cannot express how saddened i am to hear of the loss of such a special friend. I have lost the only reason for my many return visits to Kirkland after leaving 25 years ago. I realize that its been over a year since Norman passed away but i just learned of his passing from the wonderful biography in Bill Glovers book, Gold for a mad Miner. I first met Norm when we were directors on the KLEDA Board. It was then that i learned that we shared the same first & middle names, From then on to us he became Norman Francis Sr When i owned Nelson Bros. Construction he would stop by my office a least once a week for coffee & to share our stories. Like a father with his words of wisdom, i considered Norm one of my mentors. My admiration for Norm is so well reflected in the preceding condolences that i shall not repeat. May time heal the many broken hearts. til we meet again, Love you Norm

Norm exuded enthusiasm and encouragement. He always had a friendly greeting and made you feel like he cared. He would come to performances at Teck Pioneer for the Kirkland Lake Rising Stars and made us feel good with his gentlemanly “thanks for coming” and his praise. He was a sweet, wonderful man and he will be missed. His enthusiasm and dedication and love for so many will be put to good use in heaven.

Uncle Norm was such a special person. He helped me and supported me during difficult times and was there to celebrate my accomplishments. He treated everyone with respect and through his big smile and kindness helped so many people. I use to joke when he went to Tim Hortons he was like a politician, he had to say hello to everyone. The only difference was Norm knew all the people, he knew the people that need a smile and some positive words. Norm gave so much to others and expected nothing in return. He truly lived his faith and I am grateful for Norm”s positive impact on my life.

Mrs. Connelly, and all the Connelly family, I was so sad when my Dad called me yesterday and told me Norm had passed away. I will miss him so very much when I visit Dad. They were neighbours at TPR and partners in bingo-where they always cleaned up and partners in shenanigans, they were always laughing about something. I was so lucky to be able to spend time with him and get to know him better personally. He was always so appreciative of any little thing I did for him. Always smiling and laughing. He always remembered to ask about my kids and enjoyed hearing about Paul and Christophers hunting and fishing trips. He will be missed by many in town and at TPR-the staff and so many of the visitors were very fond of Norm. The ladies will miss him helping them to sit at either the dining table or the game table-forever a gentleman! I will keep you in my heart, thoughts and prayers Norm, I will miss you so much! I got to know Norm best since my Dad has been at TPR. Norm has been a wonderful friend and a formidable bingo partner. Im not sure what great escape he and Dad were saving for, but they certainly have a good start! Norm has certainly been a blessing to our community and his countless hours of volunteering are evident in all the fine tributes here. I will miss Norms beautiful smile, and they way he lit up a room just by being there. Of course, behind every good man there is a fine woman keeping the fort. Mes sincères condoléances à son épouse, ses enfants et toute votre famille ; la dernière fois que j’ai vu Norm , c’était à la messe de minuit au Centre d’accueil Youville à Rouyn -Noranda . J’étais garde malade à cette résidence, et ma fille faisait la Vierge dans une crèche vivante avec son conjoint ( St- Joseph et l’enfant Jésus était ma petite- fille . Norm etait un amie de ma soeur Huguette et de mon frère Lionel Desabrais ( boulangerie Desabrais ) rue Taschereau, ouest ( 1ère boulangerie. Je garde dans mon coeur le souvenir de l’ami de la famille , du joueur de hockey, de l’homme d’affaire et de son implication sociale. Jamais je n’oublierai son sourire légendaire, sa politesse , son air affable. Très cher à mo coeur . Courage à vous tous . Vraiment très peinée.

Norm and I offer our sincere condolences to you Germaine and the Connelly family, we are so sorry to hear of Norms passing. We got to know him while visiting my parents, Ron and Joyce McGugan at TPR, he was always so pleasant and loved a good laugh, we enjoyed chatting with him! He loved to tell me how great the Norms were (himself and my Norm of course) then you (Germaine) would remind him there were no Saint Norms! Always got a laugh. When leaving he would say, Pray for me and Ill pray for you! He was a special man and we know he will be greatly missed, may he now rest in Gods loving care.

On behalf of the Kentish family please accept our most sincere condolences on the passing of Norm. I personally will miss the phone call that I would get once a year from Uncle Norm. The conversion was always about family and Community. I will forever be thankful for our friendship that was passed on to me from my Dad who first met Norm in the mid 40s in RouynNoranda. It is with much sadness that I read of Norm’s passing. Northern Ontaroio and Northern Quebec were and are better places with Norms’s input. He will be missed greatly. Rest now Norm. It’s time to sell tickets where ever you are now.

What a kind and generous soul, friend to everyone and loved and respected by all who knew him. Norm was the life of the party and he loved attending the social events at TPR. I was totally shocked to get this news today about Norm. My deepest condolences to Germaine and family at this very difficult time. I’ve have known Norm all of my life having grown up just down the street from the Connolly’s in Noranda as a child. Norm played hockey as well with my dad Lucien Lafrance. Over the past five years I spent many a day at Teck Pioneer visiting my mother and seeing Norm each time I was there. I always got a hug and a kiss from him and he would tell me stories about myself as a child growing up in Noranda. I will miss his conversations and memories. May he Rest in Peace as he flies with the angels. Lovingly remembered by Marcel and I –
