To Leigh and Laryssa Smith, I never had the opportunity to physically meet your loving mum & wife but only through phone calls & emails. We did some business together over the past year and when you meet someone over the phone and you know in your heart you are working with someone who cares so much about other’s health. I was so sad to hear of this news and my heart truly goes out to both of you as well as all family and dear friends. Nikki and I spoke about Kirkland Lake and how I had and have still a cousin living there. We share a few stories and like I said before, I knew that I was speaking and working with a wonderful person who I could tell wore her heart on her sleeve. I was so shocked and saddened when my Dad told me of Nikkis passing. She was such a light in so many lives. Whenever I saw her at TPR while visiting my Dad and Uncle she always had such a big smile and sweet and genuine hello that made you feel like she truly cared. Because she did care. So much for so many. It is such a huge loss for TPR and your family. A bright beautiful light has gone out, but the remembrance of her will shine on in the many hearts and lives she has touched while here. Thinking of her family at this most impossible time. My heartfelt condolences to her family. I knew her as a young girl, and I knew her Mum and Dad, and her brother Michael. Having read all the comments on here about what a lovely woman she was, I’ve no doubt that her reunion with her family, on the other side, was one filled with joy. Nicole brought such love and joy to Uncle Gerry and Auntie Shirleys lives. Laryssa and Leigh, take comfort in knowing she was loved by all she touched. I first met Nikki when she was working for the CCAC and looking after patients in their own home. Then we crossed paths again when my Dad moved in to TPR. Nikki always had a smile that came from her heart. She was kind, compassionate and professional. She was truly loved by the residents and the staff. She will be missed. Hold her memory close to your heart.

My wife Gail was a resident for over 6 years at Teck Pioneer Residence. During her stay she had numerous contacts with Nikki! Nikki was an amazing, caring, compassionate and loving lady! The pain of losing Nikki is nothing short of immense. She was my best friend for nearly 40 years & that just wasn’t anywhere near long enough. My heart is shattered with the thought that she is gone … it’s truly unbelievable … but I know my pain is a drop in the bucket compared to her husband & daughter. My broken heart is with them always.
