NICOLE “NIKKI” SMITH (NÉE BOULANGER),

2021

SMITH, Nicole “Nikki” (née Boulanger)It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Nicole “Nikki” Smith on April 14, 2020 at the age of 51. Nicole was predeceased by her son Bradley, brother Michael, parents Gerry and Shirley, and many aunts and uncles who were close to her heart.Nikki is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Leigh Smith, as well as her adoring daughter Laryssa Smith.Nicole will always be known for wearing her heart on her sleeve. She was the person who was there for her family, Laryssa and Leigh. She was the rock, both inside and outside of her home. Anyone lucky enough to have known her knew that they would always have a “Mama Bear” to lean on and watch out for them without judgement. Her children were her world, have it be by blood or not. Her angel wings were infinite to everyone close to her heart.Nikki will be remembered for her amazing nursing career, during which time she cherished and touched the lives of so many people in the Town of Kirkland Lake and wherever she went otherwise. Nikki was a BSO Nurse at Teck Pioneer Residence and Extendicare long term homes. This was her lifelong passion and made so many people smile with her laughter, courage and strength. Nikki changed many lives, both throughout her career and those who surrounded her.In keeping with Nikki’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. She will be deeply missed by so many.DONATIONS:Extendicare Activity Fund

Leigh and Larissa I was saddened to hear of Nicoles passing. This world always needs another angel, and I’m sure in my heart she has had a wonderful reunion with her beloved Bradley. Take care. Gone from our sight but never our hearts.

Dear Leigh and Laryssa, The news of Nikki’s passing filled us with shock and sorrow. For years her kindness, strong sense of justice and advocacy for those who couldn’t brought comfort to my father, Yuri, and to my mother, Maria (Babyshka). Much love, too. Through her, I met Leigh and Laryssa who were also there for my parents. Thank you. I shall miss the chats Nikki and I had over Timmies. We shared stores, as if we had known each other all our lives. An inspiration. Hugs from me to you, Leigh and to you Laryssa. Louisa, and family: Jean Yves, Francois, Isabelle

Nikki…May you RIP!

To Leigh and Laryssa Smith, I never had the opportunity to physically meet your loving mum & wife but only through phone calls & emails. We did some business together over the past year and when you meet someone over the phone and you know in your heart you are working with someone who cares so much about other’s health. I was so sad to hear of this news and my heart truly goes out to both of you as well as all family and dear friends. Nikki and I spoke about Kirkland Lake and how I had and have still a cousin living there. We share a few stories and like I said before, I knew that I was speaking and working with a wonderful person who I could tell wore her heart on her sleeve. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers during this time as well as years to follow. Let her rest in piece and be with those that welcomed her on the other side with open arms. Her spirit, love and strength will help you through this difficult time. Take care, keep safe & be well Anita Brown (Wellpoint Health Ltd.)

She touched a lot of people’s lives and her passing was much too soon. It gives us peace that she will be reunited with her loved ones in heaven until we all see her again one day. RIP Cousin Nikki xo

Leigh and Laryssa Words do not convey the sorrow I feel at this time. The loss of a wife/ mother is a difficult time but knowing the Momma Bear – she would want you to look after yourself and remember her for who she was – a special person to you and all she knew. Remember to breathe as the days pass. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Ian

I was so shocked and saddened when my Dad told me of Nikkis passing. She was such a light in so many lives. Whenever I saw her at TPR while visiting my Dad and Uncle she always had such a big smile and sweet and genuine hello that made you feel like she truly cared. Because she did care. So much for so many. It is such a huge loss for TPR and your family. A bright beautiful light has gone out, but the remembrance of her will shine on in the many hearts and lives she has touched while here. Thinking of her family at this most impossible time. She will always be with you.

My heartfelt condolences to her family. I knew her as a young girl, and I knew her Mum and Dad, and her brother Michael. Having read all the comments on here about what a lovely woman she was, I’ve no doubt that her reunion with her family, on the other side, was one filled with joy. May the same Spirit that guided her home bring comfort and peace to the family who remain here.

Darlene Girard, March 1, 2021

Nicole brought such love and joy to Uncle Gerry and Auntie Shirleys lives. Laryssa and Leigh, take comfort in knowing she was loved by all she touched. We cherish all of the memories of our years in Manitouwadge and can dwell on those at any time. Her Auntie Yvette continues to speak of how proud everyone was of the special wife, mother, nurse and friend she had become. The entire OHalloran family sends their heartfelt condolences. Take care of each other Larissa and Leigh.
