Monica Armstrong,

MONICA ARMSTRONG,

2021

ARMSTRONG, Monica, It is with saddened hearts that the family of Monica Armstrong (nee O’Malley) announce her passing at the age of 95 at Teck Pioneer Residence, in the early morning of Sunday, August 27th. Monica was born in Cobalt but she lived most of her life on Second Street in Kirkland Lake with her loving husband of 64 years, Arnold (deceased 2005), and their eight children. Family was the focus of Monica’s life. After raising her children, she devoted much of her time to being a caring and generous grandma and great-grandma. Monica was a member of the Holy Name Parish and the Catholic Women’s League. For years she enjoyed weekly bridge games and the Encore Club. She had a keen intelligence and an inquisitive nature and could get lost for hours in a good book. She spent her life happily surrounded by a loving family, good friends, and, at TPR, a wonderful and caring group of staff, Dr. Rys and volunteers. Monica was the last of her O’Malley siblings. She lost one son, Arnold Jr. (Lundy) early and two, Gary and Michael, more recently, but she was at peace knowing that they would eventually be reunited. Monica is survived by her children Wayne (Elaine) Armstrong of Hamilton, Sherry Haddow of Calgary, Sue (Badge) Darling of Kenogami Lake, Mark (Pierette) Armstrong of Kirkland Lake, and Shawn (Pauline) Armstrong of Kirkland Lake, as well as many nieces and nephews, 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Monica’s family invites all of her friends to join us at her grave-side service on Friday, September 8 at 11:00 am at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the FRENCH FAMILY FUNERAL HOME (111 Burnside Drive, P.O. Box 994, Kirkland Lake, Ontario P2N 3L1) to celebrate a long life well lived. Rest in Peace.SERVICE DETAILS:
