1958 - 2021
It is with great sorrow that the family of Michael (Mike) Sheldon shares the news of his passing on September 19, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. He was a fighter until the very end and ultimately passed peacefully at home surrounded by the people who love him. Mike was born on March 13, 1958 to Fred and Marguerite Sheldon. He was a true Larder Laker and he loved to spend his days on the boat fishing, and his evenings around a campfire having a cheers and looking at the stars. He was always the most fun to have at any party, and he enjoyed teasing and joking as much as possible. He loved listening to music, playing poker, supporting his local Legion, and spending time with his family. His kind demeanor and fun personality made him Papa Mike to many in the community, not just his grandson. He will be so very missed.
Mike leaves behind his wife Cindy (nee Miller), daughter Riley of Larder Lake, son Michael (Manon) of Englehart, and his best friend and grandson, Ethan, also of Larder Lake. He is survived by his sister Susan Cannon (Gary), his brothers Bruce and Stephen all of Larder Lake. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Susan Sheldon of Kirkland Lake, Diane Welch (Dave) of Hanover, Sandra Miller of New Liskeard, Linda Smeaton of Langley, B.C., and Betty McCallan (Dave) of New Liskeard. He leaves behind his much loved mother-in-law, Rose Miller, also of New Liskeard, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, good friends and extended family.
Mike is predeceased by his parents Fred and Marguerite, brothers Fred and Robert, his father-in-law Brock Miller and recently by his cat, Dozer.
It was Mike’s wish to have a Celebration of Life where friends and family can gather to happily reminisce, share memories, and to have fun together. Friends are invited to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 293, Larder Lake on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. followed by a gathering at the family homestead. Please be mindful of the COVID-19 protocols.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Larder Lake Legion, Branch 293, in his name (31 Market St, Larder Lake, ON P0K 1L0).
