Michael McCrank,

MICHAEL MCCRANK,

2021

McCRANK, Mike – November 29, 1934 – December 1, 2015With heavy hearts and countless fond memories, we announce the unexpected but peaceful passing of Michael McCrank at Kirkland & District Hospital on Tuesday, December 1st, 2015, two days after celebrating his 81st birthday.Mike was a devoted and loving husband and father, whose warmth, generosity, and caring spirit were matched by his good nature and gentle humour, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.Predeceased by his father Gerald, reeve of Kirkland Lake from 1962-1966, his mother Lillian (née MacDonald) and his sister Patricia (Alan). Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Margaret (née Anderson), and two children: David (Lisa), Karen (Barrett), and his granddaughter Holly; his brothers Douglas (Mary) of Wawa, ON, Robert (Rynnetta) of Bracebridge, ON, Richard (Debbie) of Swastika, ON, and his sister Geraldine (Joe) of Kirkland Lake, ON, plus numerous nieces and nephews.Mike was a long-time employee in sales at Heath and Sherwood 1964, retiring in 1999, Grand Knight of Council 3748 of the Knights of Columbus 1980-81, a member of Associated Canadian Travellers in Kirkland Lake and an active member of the Holy Name of Jesus Parish.Smart and industrious, with a knack for problem-solving, Mike knew his way around a tool shed – having never met a roll of duct tape he didn’t like – and his handiwork can be seen in much of the furnishings in the McCrank home. He was also an avid golfer (nicknames “Boom-Boom”), slo-pitch player (“Slugger”), the only Old – Tymer hockey player to proudly wear red, long handled underwear, and a fisherman, whose enthusiasm for the sport was only thwarted by a lack of effective equipment.Mike’s family will welcome visitors on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church before the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. A reception/ Celebration of Life will be held in late spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson’s Society Canada or Alzheimer’s Society Canada in Mike’s Memory will be gratefully received.“Those we love don’t go away,They walk beside us everyday,Unseen, unheard, but always near,Still loved, still missed and very dear.”Offer Condolence for the family of Michael McCrank
