Mervin Leslie Rivett 1942 – 2008 It is with deep sadness that the family of Mervin Leslie Rivett announces his passing at his home on Thursday, January 24, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Melvin fought a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Kirkland Lake. Mervin was employed by the Town of Kirkland Lake Works Department for 30 years. He was predeceased by his infant son Mervin Leslie in 1970 and father Henry Rivett in 1980. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Alice (nee Lamarche) and his beloved children Dianne (Danny), Henry (Reina) and Norman (Vivian). Mervin will be fondly remembered by his mother Evelyn Rivett; grandchildren Casey, Brody and Jesse Lafleche, Kristin and Tiffany Rivett. He is survived by his siblings Leona, Norma, Vivian (Rudy), Ted (Margaret), Lorraine (Bill), Helen and Arnold (Sherry) and also remembered by many nieces and nephews. Mervin will be greatly missed by his faithful pets, Penny and Catou. He enjoyed playing pool, woodworking, playing cards and going for walks. The family will receive relatives at the Monette & French Funeral Home on Friday, January 25, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the “Teck-Hughes Chapel” of the Monette & French Funeral Home wit h Father Wayne Mills officiating. In the spring, Mervin will be laid to rest in the family plot at Hillcrest Cemetery in Matheson. Donations in Mervin’s memory may be made to the Kirkland Lake V.O.N.
