Muriel, Brian and Families: I have great memories of your Mom doing all sorts of things in Swastika especially working in the kitchen at the United Church during our many dinners. My thoughts and prayers are with you all
In Loving Memory of Mary Minnie (Nicholls) Lang who passed away peacefully at the Kirkland & District Hospital with family by her side in her 84th year. Minnie was the daughter of Arthur James and Ella May (Sword) Nicholls. Born on October 24, 1926 in Matheson, she had been a resident of Swastika since a young girl. She met Lloyd Lang when he returned from WWII and they were married on October 26, 1946. They were lifelong partners and best friends, working together to make a good life and home for themselves and their family. She was a loving and kind woman who endeared herself to all she encountered. She was an avid reader, knitter and baker, loved puttering in her garden, spending time outdoors picking berries, drives in the country and spending quality time with her late husband. Her greatest joy in life was her family. As a younger woman, she was employed with the ONR as a long distance telephone operator, working over a number of years at the Porquois Junction, Cobalt and Swastika stations. Mrs. Lang was a dedicated volunteer at the Chateau and Extendicare nursing home, retiring after 35 years of service. A much loved and treasured mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mrs. Lang will be greatly missed by her children, Muriel and Brian (Barbara); grandchildren, Tracy, Renée (Matthew), Kristen, Robin and Lisa; and great grandchildren, Bronwyn, Kelly, David and Raine. She will be dearly missed by Daniel and Patricia Nicholls, Shirley Nicholls, Francis and Margaret Lang, Shirley Lang, her aunt Velma Hammell as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd Leslie Lang in 2003; her parents in 1964 and 1966; siblings Bernice (Robert) Leonard, Peter Nicholls and Walter (Shirley) Nicholls; nephew Daniel Nicholls Jr; and extended family William Land, Lucy (Deault Lang) Tomlinson and Russell Lang. The Family will welcome friends at the MONETTE & FRENCH FUNERAL HOME (450 Government Road West, Kirkland Lake, ON., P2N 3L1) on Sunday, January 3, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at St. Peter’s-on-the-Rock Anglican Church on Monday, January 4, 2010 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2:30p.m. from St. Peter’s-on-the-Rock Anglican Church with the Rev. Edna Murdy officiating. In accordance with her wishes, cremation followed and a private committal of ashes will take place at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the St. Peter’s-on-the-Rock Anglican Church or to the Kirkland & District Hospital Auxiliary. Always smiling, happy and content. Loved by everyone wherever she went. The end was sudden, the shock severe, To part with one we loved so dear. Our family chain is broken And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one The chain will link again.Offer Condolence for the family of Mary Lang
