On October 14,2023 Marlene Rose Haskins (née Coughlin) left this earth to join her angels in heaven, surrounded by her loving family for the big send off.
Marlene was predeceased by her mother Dorothy Hosick , her father Martin Coughlin and loving step father Herbert (Bert) Hosick; her son Jason and twin boys that God felt he needed more in heaven.
Marlene is survived by her loving children Bobby (Tina), Christine (Glen), Sue Anne (Andre) and Becky (Mike) along with a hockey teams worth of grandchildren and great grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
Marlene was known by so many as Mom or Nanny as she was that constant presence in so many lives. She was a block mom on Taylor Ave. to every kid that passed by or through her door. Her gift to this earth was her love and compassion.
In keeping with Marlene’s wishes, cremation has been arranged with Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative. She did not wish for a formal service. In lieu of flowers we encourage a donation of any kind be mailed to the Salvation Army (6 Sylvanite Ave., Kirkland Lake, ON P2N 2C7) or to the Cancer Society of Canada (https://cancer.ca/en/ 55 St. Clair Avenue West, Suite 300, Toronto, ON M4V 2Y7).

I’m deeply moved by Marlene’s passing. I have known Marlene since high school and we remained good friends throughout our entire lives. Although we were not visiting friends, never did we not exchange words to catch up on what was new in our lives when crossing paths. Our friendship was genuine and pleasant. I’ll miss her smile. Her struggle with cancer was epic. What a strong woman. Sometimes life is so unfair. I am glad her suffering is over, but, I simply wish she could have stayed with us longer. Rest easy Marlene.
So sorry for your loss. This lady was always kind to me and always greeted me with a smile. “Rest In Peace” Marlene
Until we meet again in paradise.
You will be missed.

My heart goes out to the family and close friends of Marlene. She truly was a kind sole and love deeply. She always looked for the best in all those she comes in contact with. If you were feeling down she always had a kind hug and sweet words that lifted you up, and she truly loved her family with her whole sole, and would do anything for them or for anyone who needed help. For all those who had the privilege of knowing Marlene, you will always have beautiful memories of her, take them and share them because that’s how she would want to be remembered. Love Phyllis Cholette.

Your mother/grandmother always had a smile at Goldland's even if she had to holler at someone doing something there she was polite and kind. A genuine friendly person to talk to. Even though she could not do stairs she delivered with a smile. A genuine true person not someone trying to fake it. I know she had health issues but she always had time for others. I know she has made a difference in the world and hope this is helpful.
God Bless!!
Our deepest sympathy
I want to wish you my sincerest condolences for the loss of a beautiful human being both inside and out. Everyone who knew Marlene was a better person for it and it seems like everyone in KL has a wonderful thing to say or memory of Marlene that has a connection to her 'Motherly Instinct' with her community.
The world just got smaller with this beautiful soul gone, but I think the ones who are greeting her right now, are pretty happy to see her.
Our Heartfelt Sympathies,
Colleen and Bob Young.
May you rest in peace Marlene. You will forever be in my memory.
And I have the picture of my little Scout who I got from you many

Christine, Becky, Sue Anne and Bobby and grandchildren - sending my heart felt condolences to all during these difficult days. I remember your Mother/Grandmother with her cheerful hello and smile at Goldland and school days as I went to school with Becky. She was a regular at yard sales too and she was known by many. May she rest in peace.

Marlene worked with me for many years at the Goldland and not a day went by she wasn’t helping someone out. She had the kindest, most generous heart and always took the time to chat to customers because she was genuinely interested in what they had to say. She always spoke of how proud she was of her children and grandchildren and she loved you all more than life itself. Matti, you were a friend for many years and you were always there for her when she needed you. My heart and prayers go out to you all. She will be missed.
