RUTETZKI, Mark

1958 - 2022

Mark Harrison -- It is with deep sadness that the family of Mark Rutetzki announces his sudden passing on July 3rd, 2022, at the age of 64. Predeceased by his parents Harrison and Anna Rutetzki of Kirkland Lake. Forever cherished, remembered and loved by his children Tiffany Rutetzki and April (Bryan) Zerebeski and Paul (Rebecca) Horak. He leaves behind his grandchildren Harrison, Lorna, Charles and Hanz. Mark leaves to mourn his sisters Louise (Shawn) Healey and Carol (Roman) Borowski. Aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins also hold his memory in their hearts. Born on March 6, 1958 in Blind River, Ontario, Mark had many fond memories of growing up in Manitouwadge, Ontario. It was there that his passion for fitness began. Mark was active in all sports, including skiing and skating in winter and swimming, hunting and fishing with his father in summer. He went on to attend college in Ottawa, where he studied law and security. He began working for a short time as a police officer in Kirkland Lake and later an RCMP officer in Quebec. During this time he also developed an interest in bodybuilding that would last decades. He then embarked on a long and successful career in the mining industry. Mark’s experience and knowledge of the milling process led him to work in many parts of the world, such as Mali, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Burkina Faso and Madagascar. Always one to chase after adventure, Mark spent his time off exploring the locales where he worked, seeing many wonderful sights such as the Great Egyptian Pyramids. After a 25 year career in mining, Mark finally returned home to Kirkland Lake where he spent happy months with his sister, brother-in-law and friends. Mark’s positive and adventurous spirit will always be remembered and treasured by those who knew and loved him. Cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held at a later date.

Paul and Rebecca

I never got the pleasure to meet Mark, I'm sure we would have been friends. The stories I heard made him out to be a man amongst men. He did a hell of a job raising a good man, one who found himself a good girl.

Such losses are never easy to endure, seek solace in your memories that will last forever.

Louise & Carol and Families

Carol told me recently of Mark’s passing. My family The Ahern’s of Manitouwadge , Ontario and Malartic, Quebec have a lot of History with the Rutetzki family. Mark’s dad Harry and my dad Paul were best of friends and worked together for many years in the mining industry. Mark was my brother Gillis’s friend. Gillis taught Mark Martial Arts on our lawns in Malartic and were life long friends from then on. Gillis passed last year and I am sure both he and Mark are reminiscing about old times and watching over all of us.
Hugs to Louise and Carol from my family to yours. Xoxo

Mark's Family

It is with great sadness of the passing of Mark. I was his trainer when he arrived in Quebec as a RCMP. We had a fun time with Mark as he was always a positive person always wanting to learn new things. Mark and I would often patrol the lakes in the Quebec City area and patrol the Canadian - USA border south of St-Georges de Beauce Quebec. We often had him for family lunch as he was part of our family. My wife and I loved his company. When he first arrived his french wasn't perfect but he was well on his way to perfecting this language. The evening he arrived he stopped at L'Hotel de Ville in Quebec thinking it was a Hotel but found out its how we call the City Hall. We really laughed about this.....Even though I never had contact with Mark since his departure from Quebec I thought about him all the time. I love you Mark and my sincre sympathies to the family.

To Mark’s family

My condolences to Mark’s family.
I have very fond memories of Mark. A man who was always approachable and willing to share his vast wisdom. Mark patiently helped myself and all the others young gym rats at Vic’s back in the day. He was a calming presence and he will be missed by all who had the fortune of meeting this truly gentle giant.
Rest easy my friend.

Mark Rutetzki

Mark was a very outgoing kind family oriented man.
I was best man at his wedding.

We spent a unlimited time together.
I showed mark how to hunt big game trap fish.
He lived with me for some years while at Raglan.
He made a mistake i could never forgive him for and parted ways.

We were the very best of friends and both extremely adventurous.

Mark was a good man hard worker and kind person.

My best regards to his whole family.
