Wayne and Family, Our sincere condolences on the loss of a wonderful lady. George Burns was one of my favourite curling skits.. May the memories you cherish comfort you all. Fran and Dean
On Friday, August 9th, 2019 Lydia was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour. Survived by her husband of 60 years, Wayne; children: Wendy (Lloyd Cooper) Laurie (Jim Cregg) Kathy (Tony Porritt ), and son-in-law, Steve Jago (Cecile Jago), brother, Gene Shelestynsky (Diana), grandchildren, Lydia, Christa, Kathrine, Kyle, Kurtis, Keanna, Matthew and Courtney, as well as eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and John Shelestynsky, daughter, Lynda Jago, brother, George Shelestynsky, and grandson, Jonathan Kortz.Lydia was born August 4th, 1938 and spent her entire life in Kirkland Lake, attending King George Public School and graduated from KLCVI. In later years, she enjoyed spending winters in Florida, golfing and enjoying the company of the many friends she made there. She spent several years working for the Chamber of Commerce, ending her career running the constituency office for our Member of Parliament, John A. MacDougall and was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi chapter where she volunteered for numerous organizations and will be remembered for her entertaining skits featuring Jimmy Durante, George Burns and Maurice Chevalier. Lydia was an avid golfer and curler where she met many life-long friends and enjoyed attending Grace Bible Chapel in Timmins while visiting family. The family would like to thank Sandy Dal Pai for her care throughout the years, the nurses at Kirkland District Hospital, as well as Betty Smallwood for their compassion and outstanding care. Words cannot express how comforting it was to have the use of the palliative suite so that the family could be together and remain by Lydia’s side in her final days.Rest in peace Superwoman! Good night God bless you, and we love you more. “Do not mourn. I am just passing from death into life.”Visitation:
