RODGERS, Lorne David – It is with great sorrow the family announces the death of Lorne David Rodgers on Monday, December 31, 2012, at the age of 82. Lorne was predeceased by his wife Shirley, son Stephen, and grandson Shawn. Lorne is survived by his: loving companion, Velma Fox and her family; sons, David (JoAnn), and Larry Rodgers; daughters, Susie (Gary) Huston and Kathy (Dale) Ennis. Lorne was proud of both his biological and extended family; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss him dearly. Lorne worked, as a hoist man, for many years with our local mines. He left mining, in 1970, to become an owner-operator of a transport; he drove for many local companies. He then worked part-time as a bus driver, doing the Matachewan run along with many school trips for both school boards, until his retirement. Lorne was a regular at McDonald’s with many of his friends for their morning coffee. Special thanks go out to the staff of the Kirkland & District Hospital I.C.U., along with everyone who looked after him during his stays in the hospital this past year. A graveside service will be held at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery in the spring 2013. Donations in Lorne’s memory may be made to the Kirkland & District Hospital Foundation (145 Government Road East, Kirkland Lake, ON, P2N 3P4), are greatly appreciated by the family.Offer Condolence for the family of Lorne Rodgers
