PECKOVER, Loretta Jean

1933 - 2022

Loretta Jean (Aitchison) Peckover

Passed away peacefully at Temiskaming District Hospital, surrounded by her surviving sisters after an unexpected diagnosis of brain cancer.

Jean was born in Kerns Township on January 29,1933 to Clark and Jessie Aitchison where she was raised on the family farm until moving to New Liskeard at an early age and starting her career. She worked briefly at the old Fairway (Beamish) store and Stedmans before moving to Campsall Electric where she worked for 33 years. It was after her move to New Liskeard that she met the love of her life, Roy Peckover. Roy and Jean were married on August 18,1956 and enjoyed many happy years together. They enjoyed travel, camping, fun times at their cottage on Pike Lake, rides on Roy’s motorcycle and their winter holidays in Zephyr Hills, Florida.

Roy died February 4,2004; however, Jean enjoyed their memories right up until her passing.

Jean is survived by her sisters, Betty (Rod Walker), Mary (Arnold Post), Gwen (Len Theriault), Judy (Peter Bowman) and Bev (Murray Dumond), her (special son) Steve Peckover as well as many caring nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Clark Aitchison, her mother, Jessie (Wadge), sisters Dorothy (Paul Tessier), Audrey (Doug Lacarte), brothers Carl (Marie), Lorne (Clarina), Jack (Doreen), David (Theo), Bruce and Wesley.

In accordance with Jean’s wishes, no services are planned. Anyone wishing to remember Jean with a donation could consider the Temiskaming Hospital Foundation (Palliative Care Unit) or charity of their choice. Visitation Tuesday October 25th 1:00-3:00.

Gwen Therriault

My thoughts are with Mary, Betty. Gwen, Judy and Bev at this very difficult time. This past four years Jean has been the angel on my shoulder through the time with my Mom. Her numerous telephone calls and notes to ensure we were both doing well were always a bright spot. I will always remember her kindness. Her work ethic during our time together at Campsall Electric was unquestionable. Thank you dear lady. Rest In Peace.
