Leonard Edwy “Len” Guppy,

LEONARD EDWY “LEN” GUPPY,

2021

The Guppy family sadly announces Len’s death on Friday, February 15, 2019. He died peacefully, at Eastholme, Powassan, a month after his 98th birthday. Born in New Liskeard and raised in Temagami, he was predeceased by his wives Laurette (nee Dufresne) and Joyce (nee Saunders). The proud and loving father of Diane Doyon (late Peter) of North Bay, Norman Guppy of Powassan, Debbie Charette (Raymond) and Gina Langis (Guy) both also of North Bay, he will also be lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren David, Danielle, Dustin, Keith, Jessica, Melanie and nine great-grandchildren. Len will be fondly remembered by Cathy Guppy and Nancy Emms. He was predeceased by all of his siblings; Alfred (late Joyce), Jack (Peggy), Margaret Gerbasi (late Henry), Alex (Irene), Jean Speer (late Ron), Amy Booth (late Jack) and an infant brother Wesley. An auto mechanic by profession, Len worked and raised his family in Kirkland Lake. After 18 years in the private sector, he joined the Ministry of Colleges and Universities Apprenticeship Program in 1969. Len was responsible for the program throughout Northeastern Ontario. This was a career he loved and will be fondly remembered by the many students and apprentices, who became fully qualified tradespeople. He retired in the late 1980’s. Len will also be remembered by many for his talent as a bagpiper. He started playing the pipes as a young man growing up in Temagami and continued well into his 90’s. He was a member of several pipe bands and played countless events in the communities he lived in. Please join his family to share memories and remember Len during visitation at Martyn Funeral Home, North Bay on Sunday, February 17, 2019, from 2-4pm & 7-9 pm. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date at the Callander Legion and his ashes will be interred in the family plot at the Callander Union Cemetery. If you would like to honour Len’s memory with a memorial donation please consider the Callander Royal Canadian Legion. Offer Condolence for the family of Leonard Edwy “Len” Guppy
