Merhar (née McArthur), June A.

MERHAR (NÉE MCARTHUR), June A.

1934 - 2025

It is with great sadness that our family announces the unexpected passing of June Ardell Merhar on January 10, 2025.

June was born on June 8, 1934 in Charlton Township and was a lifelong resident of Kirkland Lake and Swastika.

She was a very familiar face in the area, holding several employment positions, culminating in the first female Postmaster of the Swastika Post Office, where she worked until her retirement. She was also an active member of the Community Living Board of Directors for several years.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 71 years, John Merhar, her daughter Pamela Foley, her two grandchildren Robert Morrisey and Jennifer McArthur, her sister Gayle Havrot, her niece Debbie Desjardins and many more nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her extended family, as well as numerous friends and acquaintances.

June was predeceased by her daughter Brenda June, her parents Hilda and Alexander McArthur, her brothers Alex and Richard, and her sisters Audrey and Marilyn.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, yet to be determined, with internment to follow in the Kirkland Lake Cemetery.
