NYCHUK, Joseph ` Joe ` Zachary

1937 - 2010

Joe Nychuk died peacefully at his home on Feb. 22nd, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born, Joseph Zachary, at the Englehart and Area Hospital on Dec. 25th, 1937 to parents John and Helen Nychuk (Rubanetz). He attended elementary school in Krugerdorf then attended Englehart High School. Shortly after obtaining his hoisting engineer=s license, he married Katherine (McLean). He worked for various pipeline/construction companies and for the past 44 years has owned and operated his own business Joseph Nychuk Trucking. Next to his family and friends, Joe loved his work – so much so that he never retired. He could often be found crushing stone at his favourite gravel pit. Joe loved to laugh and was always ready to share a story or witty remark. Joe was pre-deceased by his father John, mother Helen, father-in-law Eddie McLean and nephew Alex McLean. He is survived by his wife, Kay (McLean); daughter, Jodie (Scott Farmer); son, Steven (Jenny Presseault); sisters, Marianne Nychuk and Sophie Cowley (Peter); brother John (Fran Walker); and mother-in-law Viola McLean. He is also survived by his three grandsons (Zac and Tate Farmer and Nate Nychuk) of whom he was extremely proud. Joe has been cremated and a “Celebration of Joe’s Life” will be held at the Englehart and Area Community Arena Complex on Saturday April 3rd at 11:00 am. The service will be conducted by Drew Jacques. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Bikers Reunion (New Liskeard) or the Englehart Clinic Expansion would be greatly appreciated. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.mcdonaldfuneralhome.ca.
