Johnny leaves his wife Rachel (née Charbonneau), his children Carole of Medicine Hat, Alberta and Gary (Joanne) of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; his grandchildren Nicole and Ryan Sanregret, Nathan and Braydon Tomac. Their Poppa will be greatly missed. John was a member of the CF Union for 53 years, member of the Canadian Associated Travelers, member of the Encore Club, Associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a member of the Northern Prospectors Association. He was employed with Burns Meats for 10 years after retiring the family grocery business in the Federal District in 1969 – Tomac Grocery. Johnny was a fisherman and hunted deer in Moose Jaw. He enjoyed all sports and cheered for the Toronto Maple Leafs. John was a fan of his grandchildren’s activities and provided much encouragement. He will be missed by many friends here and there, his spread out family from East to West and his prospecting family as well as numerous nieces and nephews, as well as the times he spent in Florida at the Centis/Novosel winter home; the many Christmas gatherings at the Charbonneau family homes. John was a true Kirkland Laker. He will be remembered for his laughter and caring manner. His children Carole, Gary and their family will forever cherish his memory. He will always be their prospector from among the stars. Our life will not be the same but love will conquer.
