ARMSTRONG, Jack – It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing in his 85th year of John ‘Jack’ Vosberg Armstrong on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 at the Kirkland and District Hospital. Predeceased by parents Percy and Ruth Armstrong of Swastika, as well as sisters Violet Lamothe and Darlene Laflair, and by his loving wife, Dorothy.Jack is survived by his children; Suzanne (Tom Rae) Pilon of Thompson, Manitoba; Debra (Brian Kearney) Cassistat of Kirkland Lake; Gord (Carol) Biggs of Kingston; Patti (Paul Sine) Biggs of Kimberley, B.C., Doug (Leslie) Biggs of Timmins; and Don (Linda) Biggs of London. He is also lovingly survived by numerous family members including nieces and nephews, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.Jack was a long time employee of Adams Mine and Heath and Sherwood where he worked as a driller. An outdoors enthusiast he was an avid hunter and angler, and he enjoyed walking in the woods with Dorothy and his faithful dog, Muggins, as well as foraging any nearby blueberry patch. Dorothy and Jack were inseparable especially during their final years when Jack would visit her several times a day at the Extendicare. He always brightened the day of those who were around him and was a well-known personality around town.At this time the family would also like to thank the nursing staff at Kirkland and District Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit, as well as the oncology department at Sudbury Health Sciences.Service InfoAquaCremation

I met Jack at Extendicare on many, many occasions while he was visiting with Dorothy, and I visiting my Dad. He would always take Dorothy out and about. Dorothy always knew he was coming every day. A true gentleman who cared for everyone, especially his wife Dorothy. My condolences to the family, he will be missed.
