Family Of Joan Waldron

Please accept my condolences on the passing of your mother, your grandmother, your great-grandmother. Her and my mom, Teresa Toohey (Connolly) were best of friends in the old days in Kirkland Lake, they were the same age. The last time I brought my Mom to Kirkland Lake, we spent a nice long visit with your Mom in Tek Pioneer. She called my Mom "Tess" which was a nickname from when they were girls. My Mom passed away in February of 2021, but I'm confident that they are friends again in heaven. I sent your mom a prayer card and a Christmas card, and she sent me a nice note back. My Mom thought the world of Joan. If someone from your family reaches out to me, I have what I think is a very nice picture of Joan from the old days. The Funeral Home will have my e-mail when I post this message.

Paul and I were so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. She and Mr. Waldron were the best neighbours, and then when your Mom went to TPR I had several chats with her when visiting Dad and Uncle Len.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Bev, Barry, Cathy.

And just like that we stand on our own. Haunting feeling when we lose our parents or any tight family member. Seems now we have to carry their flames. I believe we are worthy. Not in an arrogant way. A way that allows us to "see" and "be". We were shaped with loving hands through our lives and then set out to test our own ways. Yet they were always there, cheering. And sometimes watching with an occasional(?) raised eyebrow.....sound familiar?

Perfect with all the flaws. Just like the rest of us.

It is in the wonderment of understanding a person that allows each of us the moment to choose our own path. And we do. Whether we like it or not. Look in the mirror....who do you see under that skin.

I grew up with Bev, Barry and Cathy as well Joan and Eddy. Huge family friends and influence. New Years Eve parties in the basements. Banging garbage cans under bedroom windows when a couple would leave a party early. Lots of silly stuff. And yet what do I love today? All the silly stuff. I do my best to carry their spirit with me. Oh yes it's there even in past denial.

Joan is free now to be with all her old friends. I would suspect if you hear some garbage can tops chattering it may be hands of the drummers in them all. Or maybe not. Maybe it's you.....

Love ya Joan.
