Joan Raynor Sutton Joan passed away peacefully on July 29th, 2015 at Trillium Court in Kincardine, Ontario at the age of 91. She was born in Nottingham, England on January 10th, 1924 to John and Annie Raynor, the younger of two sisters (predeceased by her step-sister Dolly Morris). After attending local schools she apprenticed as a Seamtress and worked for a short period before joining the Land Army at the age of 19. Then while she was in Ashford, Kent, she met her future husband Glenville (Glenn) Harvey Sutton, who was in the Canadian Army. They were married in Nottingham on January 17th, 1946. Glenn sailed for Canada on June 16, 1946 while Joan sailed on September 2, 1946 as a young War Bride. Mom arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax travelling by train to be met by Glenn and his family in New Liskeard on September 13, 1946 at 5:00 am in the morning. She spent almost 70 years in New Liskeard until she moved to Kincardine, Ontario on March 19, 2015 to be closer to her family. Her son Glenn Raynor Sutton was born on April 27, 1948. During her career she worked as a Seamtress. She was active in both the Rebekahs and the New Liskeard Legion Auxiliary. Joan and Glenn camped together in various provincial parks and had several trips to Western Canada and the USA. She was predeceased by her husband in 2006. She will be greatly missed by her son Glenn Raynor Sutton (Joan) of Kincardine. Also, by her three grandchildren & families: John (Aimee) Sutton of Ottawa, Jennifer Rutter (Andrew & daughters Allison & Katie) of Georgetown, and Graham Sutton (Shannon & daughters Madison & Rachel) of Oakville. Visitation at the Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard on Friday, August 07 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service on August 08 at 2:00 pm with Pastor George Paraskevopoulos officiating. Final burial in the Pioneer Cemetery overlooking New Liskeard and Lake Temiskaming, near her “home” on High Street. The family would like to thank Dr. Blount and the staff at both Northdale Manor & Trillium Court for their care of Joan. Joan was a true lady and was loved by all. Good Bye Mom and God bless.
