MAZSA, Janos Jr. "John"

1940 - 2022

MAZSA, Janos Jr. “John” – Passed away on January 18th, 2022 at Blanche River Health- Kirkland Lake Site. John was predeceased by his parents, his son Michael and his sisters and brothers-in-law.

He will be forever remembered by his wife Carmen, his daughter Tammy (Tracy) of Kirkland Lake and his son John (Julie) of Manitoba; his beloved grandchildren Samantha, Christopher, Brian, Peter, and Elizabeth; his precious great-grandchildren Peighton, Hunter, Colton and his dog “Baby”.

In 1956, during the Hungarian Revolution, John’s parents moved the family to Canada and landed at Pier 41 in Halifax, and immediately made their way to Kirkland Lake to find work.  As a young man, John would sneak into the movie theatres in order to learn English.

John worked as a timberman at Kerr Addison then at Macassa until he retired. Once retired, he decided to find himself something to keep busy. He became a custodian at the library for over 20 years where he enjoyed the people around him. He loved making people laugh and seeing happy faces. He was known as a jokester wherever he went.

Cremation has taken place, and a private gathering will be held at a later date.

Carmen, Tammy, John and families,

So sorry to read about John’s passing. My sincere condolences to each of you. I remember him (and you too Carmen) as the custodians at Teck Centennial Library during my employment there. Brings some smiles to my face recalling some of the chuckles/laughs we had while he busily tackled his duties.

Thinking of you all at this time.

We are sorry to hear about John and wish to send you our condolences.
I always enjoyed your dad`s sense of humour both at the mine and when ever we met on his daily routines.
We had a few nick names for John but always good ones.
Rest in peace John.

Aunt Carmen, Tammy and John

Robert and I were so sad to hear about the passing of Uncle John. My heart is full of sadness for all of you. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend and Uncle. I have so many wonderful memories of him that I will cherish forever. What man would let three little girls pinch pimples on his back with utensils (remember that Tammy?). Rest In Peace Uncle John until we see each other again.
Love Michele and Robert

Dear Aunt Carm, Tammy, John & families

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle John. He was quite a character who always made time for us when we were kids. He was always doing or saying something to make us laugh. I talked to him on the phone a few years ago and he was the same old Uncle John even while he was grieving for Michael. At the end of the day we all have treasured memories of him which brings some comfort. You are in my thoughts and prayers as you grieve his loss and then celebrate his life.
