POLYBLANK, Jack – 1926 -2019: Jack passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the age of 93 at the Kirkland & District Hospial with his wife Gwen and son Steven at his side and his grandsons Drew and Steven Jr. close by. Jack is predeceased by his parents Rose and Fred Polyblank, son Scott, sister Edna, brother-in-law Fred Martyn, brother Albert, sister-in-law Jean, nephew Tom Martyn, nieces Anita Martyn and Laurie Martyn. Jack is survived by his loving wife and partner of 60 year Gwen, sons Steven and Paul, sister-in-law Pauline (John) Emms, grandsons, Drew, Steven Jr., Shane & Chad, great granddaughter Hadley, great grandsons Sawyer and Jaxson. Special close friends Janny & John Bilani, Shelby Smith and Gerry Martineau.
Jack’s family meant so much to him, Paul, Scott (deceased) and Steven. No matter when or where, he was never too busy to take time to listen, to demonstrate or to teach the boys what was important; honesty, respect and to love God. His special friend Janny was very dear to him and his wife Gwen.
Jack began his business career soon after returning home from serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. His beginning was with the J. Eaton Co. Ltd. (footwear department) then to Joe Dash Mens Wear Haberdashery, where Jack expertly measured and fit many men for their tailor made suits. Some years after (20-25) Jack purchased the Graham & Manzie Shoe Store to go on his own with the Jack Polyblank Shoe Store Ltd. Jack’s purpose in his business was to fit footwear properly and by offering comfort for them at an honest, fair exchange.
In 1959, Jack married the love of his life and soul mate Gwen where they worked side by side for the next 60 years.
Jack was known for his golfing and curling, having represented Kirkland Lake in 1961, 1964 and 1965 at the MacDonald’s Brier Curling Championship. He and his teammates being very proud of that!
