PORRITT, Imelda

1928 - 2021

The family announces with sorrow the peaceful passing of Imelda (May) Porritt on December 5th, 2021, surrounded by her family.

May was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago and made her home in Canada in 1958. She was very proud of her Lebanese background and passed on her amazing culinary traditions to her family to continue in her memory.

She was predeceased by her parents Spiridon and Nishme Anthony and siblings, Rita, Suzanne, Wahibe, Fifi, Dolly, Enid, Gerald, Collie and Jamalee.

She will forever be missed by her children Tony (Kathy), Desmond (Nancy), Darrin (Lisa), and Marina (Dave).

May was a devoted and loving grandmother to Matthew, Courtney, Devon, Brendan, Ashley, Amber, Jordan, Kendra, and Kelsey, and great grandmother to Ashton, Andrea, Ava, Easton, Aaliyah, and Jasper, all affectionately referred to as darlin’ or lovey.

In keeping with May's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family celebration will be held at a later date.

Darlene and myself were saddened to hear of the passing of your mother. We are so grateful to have known her. Though it has been several years since we saw Mrs. Porritt we remember her as a kind, sweet and wonderful person. These same traits are evident in her children and their families. We know how devastating it is to lose your mother and pray that you find some comfort in knowing that your family is there with each of you. Just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace Mrs. Porritt (May) God Bless.

To my wonderful cousins,
I am so sorry for your loss! Your sweet mom, my dear Auntie May was my favorite! Over the years we kept in touch quite often. She would give me updates on all of you and your families. I loved talking to her. She was such a hard working, strong woman who did everything she could for all of you. She was always so proud of you guys.
I love you Auntie May. You can now join my mom and the rest of your sisters in heaven! May you rest In Peace! I Love you! Xoxo
