Graham “Taffy” Williams,

GRAHAM “TAFFY” WILLIAMS,

2021

Graham (Taffy) William WilliamsJanuary 11th, 1932 to November 13th, 2015It is with tremendous sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Graham (Taffy) Williams on November 13th at the Kirkland Lake and District Hospital. Graham is survived by his wife of 54 years Bonnie Elsie Williams (nee Macpherson), sons Graham (Veronique), Bill (Rose), and Mark (Stella), brother Garry Williams of South Wales UK, grand children (Leon, Lili, Lazar, Ludo, Lyndsay, Mac and Hope), sisters-in-law; Caroline Cameron (Colin), Linda Reid (Dan), brother-in-Law Donald Macpherson (Mary) and numerous nieces and nephews both in Canada and the UK. Graham is predeceased by his parents William and Gladys Williams (nee Jones), his sisters Shirley Belton (nee Williams) and Margaret Williams. Born on the 11th of January, 1932 and raised in Llanhilleth, Monmouthshire South Wales, Graham grew up the eldest sibling of a coal mining family. Graham performed his military service with the British Army post WW2 in Germany and went on to work for the British Railways prior to his immigration to Canada in 1959. Graham began his working life in Canada at the Kerr Addison Mine in Virginiatown from 1959 to 1963. Graham moved to Kirkland Lake in 1963 and worked at the Adams Mine as a journeyman millwright from 1963 until his retirement in 1990. Graham was a dedicated family man, a loving Husband, father, and grandfather who loved the cottage Life on Round Lake and at 4 Acre Point in Kenogami. He enjoyed singing, ice fishing, downhill skiing at Raven Mountain, swimming, boating, water-skiing, hunting, woodworking, and travelling.Graham was a Mason with the Corinthian / Doric lodge, a lifetime member and Past President of Branch 87 of the Royal Canadian Legion and a past member of the Algonquin regiment reservists. Graham, you will be tearfully, painfully and sadly missed. We loved your easy going demeanor, your storytelling, your infectious sense of humor, your emotional core (resembling a burnt marshmallow; rough and rugged on the outside and mushy soft on the inside). You made everyone that met you feel comfortable and welcome. You will be remembered to us all as a gentle and humorous story teller with a big heart and a funny accent. You have always been a great role model and our Hero! Although your body inevitably failed you and you are physically departed from us, your spirit will remain forever in our hearts and in our minds. The world shines a little less brightly without your presence in it. You were an amazing husband, (THE BEST) father ever, grandfather and uncle to us that anyone could ask for. You are truly a unique once in a lifetime Individual, never to be repeated! Arrangements for Prayers and viewing will be held at St. Peters Anglican Church on Friday November 20th from 7:00 to 9:30 PM. The Funeral service will be held at St. Peters Anglican Church on Saturday November 21st starting at 10:30 AM with fellowship and a luncheon following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Graham’s memory can be made to the new Kirkland Lake Aquatic Centre or to the charity of your choice.Graham our Hero, our guide and mentor, may God Bless you and Rest in Peace.Offer Condolence for the family of Graham “Taffy” Williams

Im so sorry to hear of Mr. Williams passing. I had just heard stories today that my mother told me about how Graham and his wife Bonnie helped sponsor my mom, Huong Vu, to Canada. It gave my mom a chance to build a better life for herself and have me, her daughter. Deepest condolences, and I only wish I could have met the amazing man and family that helped my mom so much when she first came to Canada.

It sad to hear of the passing of my old co-worker Taffy “The Fitter”. Have many good memories of Taffy over the years and gained a great amount of knowledge when I was an apprentice working with him in the shop at the Adam’s. He surely will be missed by many.

Hi Graham. I’m off on french as you know. I heard the sad news of your Dad. My thoughts are with you my friend, with Veronique, the kids, and your Mom and family at this difficult time. I read about your Dad. Sounds like he was a great guy, great husband and a great Dad, with lots of varied talents and love of different things. Likely where you get it I’d say. Wonderful memories to have Graham. My best wishes to you. Carlos

Very sorry to hear about Taffy,s passing.I worked with him at Adams Mine for many years, and sad to say that was probably the last time I seen him.Our boys played together in the field behind our house on Tweedsmuir. We never made it back to the reunions after the mine closed, so never had an opportunity to see him.Thinking of the family at this time.
