Knight, Gordon `Gord`

KNIGHT, Gordon `Gord`

1934 - 2020

Gordon Leslie Knight (“Gord”) of Englehart, Ontario passed in peace on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at the age of 85, with Alice his beloved wife of 63 years by his side. Gord was preceded in death by his son Cevin (Lorraine). He is survived by his brothers Bill (Sue) and Dennis (Barb); wife Alice; children Connie (Eugene) and Chris (Lori); grandchildren Curtis (Terri), Eugene, Christina (Chris), Christopher, Angela, Sarah and Hannah; and great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Mallory, Madelynn, Braxton, Jada, Abigail, Lucas, Gunner and Savannah. Gord will be fondly remembered as a patient, kind and forgiving man, an all around great guy who enjoyed the little things in life, a quintessential family man and friend who loved to bring people together for a good laugh. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and a wonderful yarn spinner. He spent hours tending to his garden, worked on his crosswords daily, never missed the news and was obsessed with the weather, cheered for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays, dabbled in a Western movie every now and again, and could often be found shelling peanuts or eating a butter tart. Gord devoted his life to creating a space on Long Lake where friends and family could come as they are and stay as long as they like. This space, referred to as Knight’s Nook, is where Gord’s light-hearted and giving spirit will remain ingrained in every pebble of sand. It is in his relentless upkeep of the cottage life that Gord was able to discover life’s greatest joy - to watch his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, together with family, friends and neighbours in laughter and in nature. Due to COVID-19 restrictions a small service for Gord is planned for family and a few close friends on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, 11am at Good Shepherd Church in Englehart. Instead of flowers, Gord would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness in his name. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.mcdonaldfuneralhome.ca.
