The family of Gord Farlinger is very sad to announce his untimely death on February 22, 2016 at the Temiskaming Hospital, Temiskaming Shores (New Liskeard), Ontario. He was loved by all of us and we will miss him greatly. Gord was born in New Liskeard on May 31, 1955 to Fraser Alexander Farlinger and Lois Eileen Armitage. Gord lived in the New Liskeard area most of his life. He attended New Liskeard Public School and New Liskeard Secondary School. In 1974 he was awarded an Ontario Scholarship. He continued his education at Queen’s University, Kingston where he received a B.A. (Mathematics) in 1981 and B.Sc. (Civil Engineering) in 1986. The title of his thesis was “Computer Simulation of Boat Traffic on a Lake”. When he was young, he played hockey and was a coach for the New Liskeard Minor Hockey League. He was an expert water skier. Some of the best times of his life were spent at the cottage at Twin Lakes where he had lots of fun with his cousins and friends. He loved music and was a talented pianist and also had an avid interest in cars and motorcycles. Gord is survived by his sister, Arlene Primrose and brother-in-law, Brian Primrose; sister, Barbara Snedden and brother-in-law, Kenneth Snedden; nephew, Ryan Primrose; niece, Kimberly Primrose and her children Samuel Koistinen and Lilly Koistinen; and niece, Sarah Snedden and her husband, Curtis Reynolds. He is also survived by his aunt, Jane Reeves; two uncles, Richard Armitage and Robert Reeves; and eleven cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, several aunts and uncles and a cousin. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be gratefully appreciated. As per his wishes, no services will be held at this time.
