Gladys Cahill
April 13, 1934-December 26, 2021
Gladys passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Sunday December 26, 2021 with Family by her side. Loving Mother to Bob Cahill his wife Susan and Carolyn Cote. Cherished Gramma to Jason, Malinda and Meaghan, Great Grandmother to Nora. and a Special Gramma to Nat & Jay. Pre-deceased by her husband Bob and her sisters Edith, Dorothy, Edna and Ina. Beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Gladys was born on Friday the 13th, so our Family never had a fear of those superstitious Fridays, we actually embraced and celebrated these rare days. Born on the family farm in Harley Township Gladys displayed the toughness of a farm girl yet had a kindness and generosity second to none. A stay-at-home Mom was Gladys' career of choice. She was known for her baking skills, cookies muffins, cakes and pies, but especially her delicious cinnamon rolls. She always kept family and friends well fed. Gladys would often surprise people with her famous cherry cheesecake on their birthday. Auctions, flea markets, and yard sales were her passion and her hobby. Each Saturday morning she would fly out of bed to see what deals could be found, Bob and Gladys were regulars at Corneil's and McLean's Auctions as well as many others in the area. Gladys tended a booth at the Durham St flea market for many years and although she enjoyed selling her wares it was the social event she loved the most, she met many wonderful people and made long lasting friendships. Gladys had a love hate relationship with the Toronto Maple Leafs, mostly hate these past 50+ years, yet she was always hopeful she would see them lift Lord Stanley's Cup one more time.
